We expect Judith to be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
The reason she was in the hospital for such a long period is that she needed to be hooked up to suction machines in two locations on her body in order to relieve the pressure on the wound, one in her stomach and one running through her nose to her stomach.
The wound continues to heal, so the doctors are experimenting today with shutting off of the tube that is in her nose. If that "works", then the tube can be removed and Judith can come home.
On the one hand we are both excited about that, but at the same time worried about having a recurrence of the problems with the wound that we had the last time Judith was discharged. (We have become very dependent on the specialized nurse at the UCLA hospital.)
Hopefully all will work smoothly. We appreciate the messages and prayers of so many friends and from our family.

Hi Wes!
Thanks for calling tonight.
Just wanted you to know that from my work in health care here, I know we have wound care specialists in the community in our visiting nurse agencies. I would imagine you have them there too and they could help out when Judith goes home. Good Luck!
Joan
