Today is Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish year. Judith's husband and daughter (Wes and Jessica) attended services together which was an extremely sad and surrealistic experience in that this experience was always shared with Judith. That was the bitter part.
The sweet part was that a group from our tight Ohr HaTorah community left the synagogue mid-day and crowded into Judith's hospital room across town and sang prayers for her from the Yom Kippur liturgy.
We are blessed, and we are cursed.
Judith is bathed in love from dear friends from around the world who call and visit and support and sustain her in this most depressing of times.
L'shana Tova -- a good New Year to you all.
WES (aka the lonely davener)
