NEW DIRECTION

Dr. Hiyama, the chief surgeon, saw Judith this morning and said he thinks that the wound has gotten worse over the last five days in the hospital. He feels the team has run out of conservative approaches to the problem, and is recommending surgery to close the wound, something he has been trying to avoid if possible. He says that this surgery would be in "unchartered waters".

We see no choice, and are awaiting info on when this could happen.

Although this move makes us even more nervous, we realize that closing the wound surgically could be a positive step, and we are trying to be hopeful. We want Judith to come home soon, but want her wound problem and it's attendant suffering solved more than anything else.
