WEEKEND UPDATE

Friday was lousy.

Saturday was terrible.

Sunday was calmer.

What made Saturday so bad was that Judith got fully dressed and ready for a trip to the synagogue when the dressing on the wound failed big time. The nurse came and we were all frustrated by the fact that even she couldn't get satisfactory control over the situation.

I called the oncologist to report that the wound continues to get bigger and the acid from Judith's stomach is eating away at her skin and causing her great pain, even though she is getting pretty zonked with round the clock morphine. I was even asking about a possible readmission to the hospital to get control of the situation. In the end he wasn't very helpful, although he was caring and worried. At that time he couldn't get the results of the CT scan that was done on Friday, so he suggested that we reserve trying to make any new plans until we see him early Monday morning to get the results of the scan. That should tell us what is happening with the cancer, which would influence a plan of action.

In the meantime, Judith developed a slight fever during the night, which is a very bad thing. It was slightly reduced this morning, so after consultation with my "buddy" Stan from the UCLA pharmacy, we have decided to just hold on 'til Monday morning's appointment with the oncologist.

Vistors: Judith enjoyed a visit from the Ohr HaTorah gang Saturday afternoon, but after the appearance of the fever has had no visitors today as a precaution.

Stay tuned. More tomorrow.
