Red Letter Rerun

Some readers were unable to decode last night's message, so here it is again:

"Judith finally returned home this afternoon, after almost a month in the hospital. The doctors feel that the wound is healed and that that condition has stabilized. As much as we have fallen in love with some of them, we agreed to an amicable divorce and hoped that we would never see each other again.

Judith will see her oncologist on Monday, and will try to get an idea of where we are in that department.

Hope springs eternal in Pacific Palisades, CA.

WES (aka the schlepper)"

As for today (Friday), although it was great having Judith home, some of the same problems we have had each time we return home have re-occurred. But this time we have an additional layer of comfort.

Mike Leb, a physician neighbor and a wonderful friend, went to UCLA hospital yesterday and got trained by the special nurses there to do some of the same things that they have been doing in the hospital. He offered to come over EVERY DAY if necessary to change Judith's dressings. He didn't have to wait long, and was over twice today and tonight to help us out! We are determined that we will not end up back in the ER and the hospital this time, particularly because we don't have that pesky stomach tube to deal with.

With Mike covering our backs, we march on.

We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary support we get from friends, family and clergy.

WES (aka Mike's friend)
