BACK IN THE ER (IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK)

Spent most of the evening in the Emergency Room -- but this time with Judith's mom! Gerry had experienced severe abdominal pain for two days and had a CAT scan today that alarmed her local doctor who sent her to the ER for emergency surgery. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS????

The emergency room doctor, and the surgeon he called in, temporarily fixed her problem in a couple of minutes, canceled the surgery and said that she could return to Toronto next week and get the surgery done there. They sent us right home (after a couple of more hours).

As you can imagine, this scared the crap out of all of us. Fortunately the whole Bilson team swung into action, some coming to the ER, some coming to our house to take care of Judith and some running errands to secure needed supplies for Judith's ongoing care.

To end on a positive note, Susan Barret, the wound care specialist we've retained, made her first visit and dressed the wound. When that failed only a few hours later, she returned tonight to redress the wound, and help Jessica and Meredith learn the ropes for emergencies. She said that "it's not IF we can figure out how to take care of this, it's just WHEN". She says she just needs to get familiar with Judith's situation and find the proper care plan and specialized supplies. This was music to our ears, and we're delighted to have this new member on our team.

This was a terrible day, including problems I'm not even retelling, but the good news is that it was a pretty stable day for Judith's physical condition, especially considering that this was her first day home.
