DREADED NEWS

Judith had blood drawn yesterday, and the results reported to us today are very bad news.

She has a new infection of undetermined origin, and other factors in her blood work are unfavorable. The doctor would like her to enter the hospital at this point, but both she and I want to deal with all this at home. So we are starting an aggressive course of antibiotics tonight, and considering other options in the days ahead.

In Judith's words, she doesn't want to keep putting band aides on each new problem, because her overall quality of life is almost unbearable.

We will be making decisions about what to do, including hospice care.

Her brother and mother are coming in a couple of days from Toronto.

We are all with her -- some of physically at her bedside, some of you thousands of miles away. She is fully cognizant and knows each of us and you are here with her.

G-d bless Judith.
